Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care and Health Team

As a College, we understand the importance of the wellbeing of the whole person in order to achieve educational success, therefore we have a comprehensive pastoral care system.

The pastoral care team is headed by our Deputy Principals for Middle and Senior schools.

Deans

Years 11 – 13 each have a year level Dean and Years 7 – 10 have Deans by whānau group, whose primary role is the wellbeing and achievement of students.

Deans:

  • Oversee class placement
  • Liaise with subject teachers and Kaitiaki teachers
  • Monitor student motivation and achievement
  • Monitor student attendance
  • Assist with subject option choices
  • Provide a link between home and school

Guidance Counsellors

The support systems of the College include specialised help for those needing extra support and guidance.  The College guidance counsellor is available by appointment to discuss any important personal matter with students and, if desired, with their family members.

Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour

A support team from our cluster offers strategies to support students with learning and behavioural needs.

Learning Needs Coordinator

Our Learning Needs Coordinator oversees all special educational needs requirements and is supported in the classrooms  by teacher aides.

Careers Advisor

Our advisor is available to meet students by appointment along with family members if desired.  Students have ready access to information on tertiary education and employment. They may receive assistance with preparing their CV’s, getting ready for job interviews and gaining work experience.

Registered Nurse

Our nurse deals with emergency situations in the College and can access unwell students. The  nurse co-ordinates specialised health related programmes, conducts health assessment sessions and writes management plans for students with chronic illnesses.
