PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Life to the Full
|
|
|
|
|
A message about embracing opportunities.
|
In the main foyer of our Fourvière block, a new sign catches the eye: "I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). This message is the heart of the Gospel and our Marist mission. We want our students to be fully formed individuals - leading, learning, thinking critically, playing sport, making music, loving God and serving others.
|
To get there, our young people must show up and step up.
|
Look at what a single week at Marcellin College looks like when students choose to participate:

Year 7 and 8 students out learning to swim.

Winter sports in full swing - Basketball, Netball, Football, and a fantastic win for our Rugby League team against Māngere College.
|
All of this happens alongside focused learning time in our classrooms, including targeted preparation for the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisites. Our dedicated teachers are committed to supporting our students every day.
|
Over the last couple of weeks, we have been preparing for our Marcellin Feast Day Mass with whole-school singing practice. These are the moments that bind us together. We expect full attendance from all students for our Marcellin Feast day - Thursday 4th June.
|
Parents, encourage your sons and daughters to fully embrace every opportunity offered here. Excellence isn't just about the classroom; it is about stepping up and participating in the life of the College.
|

As a faith community, we look forward to celebrating Trinity Sunday. We reflect on the beautiful mystery of the Holy Trinity - God who is three in one. In the Gospel of Matthew, we are given the ultimate reassurance through Jesus' parting words: "I will be with you always, even until the end of the world."
|
Our God is fundamentally a God of relationships, and we are called to encounter Him in our everyday lives and interactions. We can easily bring the beautiful relationship of the Trinity into our homes through small, daily actions:
|
- Mirror the Father’s love by offering extra patience and a reassuring hug when mistakes happen.
- Imitate Jesus’ goodness by challenging family members to do one act of kindness today.
- Welcome the Holy Spirit’s friendship by pausing for a meaningful Sign of the Cross together before meals.
- Encounter God daily by simply asking each other at the dinner table, "Where did you see goodness today?"
Our school Sacramental Programme is now in full swing! It is a joy to see our students participating so enthusiastically and taking these meaningful steps in their personal faith journeys. Please keep these candidates, their families, and our staff in your prayers as they continue this special preparation.

In the spirit of living out our gospel values through action, we warmly invite our families to join us for the upcoming Young Vinnies Community Service Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to come together as a community and make a positive difference.

Marcellin College 1STXIII League vs Mangere College
|
|
|
Another huge week for Marcellin College. We’ve experienced some tough lessons but also been able to celebrate some great success with some very impressive performances. Our 1STXI football boys have been setting the tone all season with their commitment to remain in a stronger grade from previous years and doing well, winning their 3rd home game 5-0 to a strong Kings College side.
|
A battle of the bridge is what we called it after an intense build up to a game that was marked early on our Rugby League calendar. Mangere College vs Marcellin at home was no easy feat and well done to our 1STXIII securing the victory 22-4.
|
Netball and football take a break this weekend to celebrate Kings birthday but we prepare and remain focused for another big week of sport.
|
