Welcome to the students and families supporting those studying English at Marcellin College. The English Department is delighted to teach your child, and we will:

• Foster a love of learning that continues into adulthood through structured and engaging programmes
• Prepare junior students effectively for English in the Senior School
• Identify and address strengths and areas for development promptly
• Focus on literacy by developing skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, presenting, and viewing
• Develop key competencies from the New Zealand Curriculum: thinking, using language, symbols and texts, managing self, relating to others, and participating
• Provide well-managed classrooms that support every student to reach their full potential
