The Commerce Department offers a progressive pathway from Year 9 through to Year 13, equipping students with practical financial knowledge and real-world business skills.
Year 9 – Commerce Taster
Students are introduced to Commerce through a one-term programme, providing an engaging overview of business and financial concepts.Year 10 – Business Studies
This two-term course builds a strong foundation in:- Economic decision-making
- Sources of income and money management
- Exchange systems and insurance
- Consumer protection laws
- Introductory personal and business accounting
Accounting Programme Aims
The Accounting programme is designed to:- Develop an understanding of accounting as the financial language of individuals, organisations, and businesses
- Build key competencies across a range of economic contexts
- Apply financial knowledge to real-world situations
Real-World Business Experience
- Deloitte ‘Grow’ Programme – Introduces students to the fundamentals of starting and running a small business
- Year 10 Social Business Unit – Explores the social impact of business in partnership with Deloitte
- Young Enterprise Scheme – Senior students create and run their own business, applying entrepreneurial skills in a real-world setting
