PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
“THE RULE OF 90”
|
|
|
|
|
Occasionally we all need a coat hanger upon which to hang multiple ideas and goals
|
|
90% of getting things and activities right,
|
|
90% support from the community and staff,
|
90% of students achieving in the classroom , in music groups and sport etc.
|
|
So this year we have set a goal of 90% attendance of parents at parent meetings.
|
It is expected that at least One parent from a whānau to show support for your son or daughters education by attending College meetings this term.
|
|
The teachers have the goal of 90% achievement in the classroom.
|
|
90% achievement at NCEA level 1,2 and 3.
|
90% achievement of literacy and numeracy standards in junior classes.
|
The 90% goal of every family paying their way with college fees. Parents who do not pay are being subsidised by this group.
|
The mandated standard from the Government is 90% attendance at college every day. We are currently running around 80%.
|
|
Can I ask for your help and support in ensuring that Marcellin College achieves a 90% standard in everything in 2026?.
|

- 8.40am Kaitiaki timetabled classes follow.
- 12.50pm Singing Assembly.
- Shrove Tuesday - Liturgy and Pancakes.
- 8.40am Year 10 and 13 Assembly.
Venue: Year 10 in the College Gym and Year 13 in the College Chapel.

- Peer Mediator Training in the College Library (whole day)
- 8.40am Year 9 and 12 Assembly
Venue: Year 9 in the College Chapel and Year 12 in the College Gym.
|
- Ash Wednesday (2.15pm - Period 5)
- 8.40am Kaitiaki timetabled classes follow.
- 11ART Trip (Mangere Mountain) from 9am to 1pm.
- Athletics Day, Mt Smart Stadium for all students.
- Newsletter No.5 issue emailed home.

NOTICES & OPERATIONS

We appreciate your patience as we solve the parking issues and student dismissal. We ask that parents drive right up to the front of the chapel, when dropping off in the morning.
|
- Gate Closures: The College gates will close for cars at 8.40 am. Gates will reopen for cars only at until 3.40 pm.
- Student Parking: There is no student parking available on College grounds.
- Registration for drivers: All student drivers are required to have registered (with car details) with the Deputy Principal, Mr.Darragh.

The expectation is that all students have their own stationery and laptop.
|
Marcellin College has a college uniform which is expected to be worn with pride by every student all times. (From Home , At College, From College until they return home). Thank you for your effort here.
|
Marcellin College students have dignity and grooming standards applied.
|
- Ties for both Male and Female Year 11, 12 and 13 students are expected to be done up to the highest button. White t-shirts ae NOT shaving under Junior shirts.
- Only regulation uniform items are permitted (from Warehouse Royal Oak). The blue vest and jersey is not part of Marcellin uniform.
