PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

“HOPE does not DISAPPOINT “

( Romans 5:5)
Kia ora koutou katoa,
A story,
Three candles with names: FAITH, HOPE and LOVE were burning brightly, but gradually they dimmed.
FAITH called out ‘ I cannot last much longer’ and the light went out,
LOVE lasted a bit longer and tried to keep burning but it too had to stop burning,
But HOPE struggled to keep burning and reduced its light output. It managed to keep burning and in its struggle cried out, "I must keep my light going because if I stop, there will be complete darkness and FAITH or LOVE can never flourish again.”
HOPE is the fundamental Christian virtue, often called the forgotten virtue. It is the most human of all virtues.
Marcellin College at its base has HOPE.
Despite difficulties there is always HOPE and there are always solutions.
For parents struggling with life, relationships , money - teenage children, there is always HOPE.
For students struggling with exam results, self identity and relationships, there is always HOPE.
“HOPE does not disappoint “.

  • Expectations: Full uniform with stationery
TUESDAY 3 FEB:
School starts for all year levels at 8.40am.
  • Timetabled classes commence Kaitiaki
  • 10.00am: Mihi Whakatau (Welcome Ceremony).
  • Timetabled classes follows
WEDNESDAY 4 FEB:
  • 8.40am Kaitiaki timetabled classes follow.
THURSDAY 5 FEB:
  • 8.40am Kaitiaki timetabled classes follow
  • Newsbrief No.3 issue emailed home
FRIDAY 6 FEB:
Waitangi Day ( Public Holiday - School Closed)

Year 7/8 whānau meeting at 6.00pm
Venue: College Chapel
ALL PARENTS of Year 7/8 are EXPECTED to be PRESENT

Year 11 whānau meeting.
Venue: College Gym
ALL PARENTS of Year 11 are EXPECTED to be PRESENT at this meeting.
TUESDAY 10 MARCH:
Year 9 and 10 whānau meeting.
Venue: College Gym
ALL PARENTS of Year 9 and 10 are EXPECTED to be PRESENT at this meeting.
TUESDAY 24 MAR:
Year 12 and 13 whānau meeting.
Venue: College Gym
ALL PARENTS of Year 12 and 13 are EXPECTED to be PRESENT at this meeting.

NOTICES & OPERATIONS
PARKING
Parking on College grounds is becoming an issue especially with after school dismissal
  • Gate Closures: The College gates will close for cars at 8.40 am. Gates will reopen for cars only at until 3.40 pm.
  • Student Parking: There is no student parking available on College grounds.
  • Registration for drivers: All student drivers are required to register (with car details) with the Deputy Principal, Mr.Darragh on the first day.
STATIONERY:
Stationery lists are available on the school website or can be purchased via Warehouse Stationery by clicking on this link The Warehouse Stationery list .
The expectation is that all students have their stationery on day 1.
UNIFORM and GROOMING:
Marcellin College has a college uniform which is expected to be worn with pride by every student all times. (From Home , At College, From College until they return home)
Marcellin College students have dignity and grooming standards applied.
  • Ties for both Male and Female Year 11, 12 and 13 students are expected to be done up to the highest button.
  • Only regulation uniform items are permitted (from Warehouse Royal Oak)
