Nau mai, haere mai - welcome to a new year at Marcellin College!
|
We celebrate Aroha ki te Mahi / Love of Work as the Marist Pillar of the year, which has been demonstrated by our kaimahi/staff and Prefects this week who have been diligent in preparing for the start of the year. Our ākonga will learn more about this Marist Pillar on the first day back for the whole school, Rāhina / Monday 5 Huitanguru / February. Your support on ensuring your tamariki / child(ren) is on time and ready to learn is greatly appreciated.

It was wonderful to have our new ākonga and their whānau come together at the Welcome Liturgy and Assembly this week. The Prefects showed leadership and care as they encouraged the Years 7 to 9 ākonga during the Whanaungatanga / Team building activities. Make sure you follow our kura / school’s social media platforms to see photos of all our school events! The links are on our website and at the end of this newsletter.

We are blessed to have new staff join our dedicated team here at Marcellin College this year, a very warm welcome to:

You can meet them with the rest of our wonderful kaimahi/staff on 15 Huitanguru / February, 3.30 - 6.30pm - ‘Meet Our Kaimahi / Staff’ afternoon. More details will follow by email and on the school website and social media pages next week.

An important email was sent to all ākonga and their whānau detailing the Marcellin College Cellphone Rules - ‘Away for the Day’. Your support in reminding your tamariki about the Rules and what will happen if the expectations are not met will help them adjust to the new regulations that begin this term.
|
We commend this year to our Loving and Compassionate God with our school prayer written by the School Leavers of 2010. Take the time to pray this with your tamariki as we journey together as a Marcellin whānau:

Please take the time to talk with your tamariki/child(ren) about their learning goals for Term One and the expected behaviours of our school. At extended kaitiaki, all ākonga will receive their timetable and Ākonga Handbook with information about the school, including the Marcellin Way - Code of Conduct. It is important that you read through this with your tamariki to ensure they have a clear understanding of the expected behaviours that will ensure they ‘Seek the Best’ and have a positive start to the year.

Important Notice
|
|
|
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Attendance Dues are compulsory payment at all Catholic / Integrated Schools.
A gentle reminder that a condition of enrolment at any integrated school such as Marcellin College, is a legal requirement for whānau / parents and/or caregivers to pay Attendance Dues. Attendance Dues are collected by the school on behalf of the school’s Proprietor.
|
There is a need for all whānau / parents and caregivers to make a commitment to paying something (e.g. $20 per fortnight automatic payment) towards the cost of your tamariki/child(rens) education at Marcellin College. Financial Assistance is available to assist whānau who may need financial support.
|
Overdue accounts may be referred to a debt collection agency by the Proprietor which puts more pressure on whānau. It is important that regular communication is made with either the Executive Officer, Tiffany O’Brien, or the Tumuaki, Maria Prescott, to prevent this from happening.
|
